This bingo card has a free space and 24 words: “I wish”, someone fundamentally misunderstands your work, talking about a low stakes piece/a study like it’s much higher stakes, something is/isn’t nebulously “effective” (no mention of what at), someone tells you to try doing something that you are never going to try, no one knows how to talk about abstract art, no chance for you to speak during your own crit, realizing after the fact that you did have a question to ask the class when you said you didn’t, convincing yourself you don’t care/that nothing matters to shield yourself from the emotional pain of work you care about getting slammed, back hurts, “I don’t know how to feel about this”, “this is a nitpick, but-”, “I don’t know how to explain/put it into words”, someone makes weird assumptions about you, prof reminds class that crit participation is part of our grade, all focus is on a singular aspect of your work, people not interacting with your work the way you intended it to be interacted with, “intentionality” mention, self-esteem plummet, backhanded compliment, falling asleep where you sit, wanting to scream or cry, feeling bad for barely/not at all participating and critiquing something you did on purpose as if it’s a mistake.
