Larry later wrote Lonesome Dove, The Last Picture Show, Terms of Endearment and others, I survived getting run over by a motorcycle in London, My grandpa nicknamed me George., Buddy Holly played concerts in my mom’s house and my father dated “Peggy Sue.”, I got out of a ticket once by saying I was trying to open a Twinkie and hit the gas by accident, I earned a Blackbelt in TaeKwonDo and fought on the All Army Boxing Team, I was the Overall Champion of the 1992 Pierce County Spelling Bee and went on to compete in Nationals, I started out in college as a journalism major, I thought my birthday was August 3rd until I was 12. That was not my real birth date. My family celebrated each year on August 3rd., I produced and recorded a song for an MTV video that won award in 1988, I am mentioned in Captain Sully Sullenberger's autobiography and get Christmas cards from him, During my last semester in high school, I was mentored by Parkland Hospital's chief of pediatric surgery, I used to have slumber parties in Elizabeth Taylor's old bedroom. Yes, it was purple!, I met with famous heart surgeon Dr. Michael DeBakey one-on-one several times in the late 1990s, I encouraged my dog by eating BowWow dog food circa 1970, I was the wizard in a Wizard of Oz play in the third grade., I have a cousin who was playmate of the year in 1970 and was on an episode of The Brady Bunch, I once mopped floors for Senator Frist from Tennessee. He was a heart surgeon at Vandy while I was in engineering school there, I won a hula hoop contest in college, I have run a 4 minute mile., I have performed 523 adult autopsies., I like to day-trade in my spare time, My father chose my major for me in college after I took every elective known to man. It took me 5 1/2 years to graduate., I wrote a letter to Captain Kangaroo as an elementary kid and he read my letter on air, I tutored Michael Irvin, Brett Perriman, Russell Maryland, and Jeff Feagles in college, I got to sing “Happy Birthday” to Willie Nelson on his 89th birthday!, one of our children was on the organ transplant list while in high school (bone graft for knee) and received the needed donation!, I played trombone with the jazz band on the local morning news show, First career choice truck driver.
