You can still have pets on home dialysis. They need to be away from treatment areas & supplies
If you have remaining kidney function, PD is the best option to keep your kidneys going longer.
You have fewer clinic visit (about 1-2) per month on PD or HHD
You may experience increased energy and improved sleep quality
There is a 24/7 nurse support line
Increased independence can improve patient quality of life
You will still have a care team (doctor, nurse, dietician, social worker) with home dialysis.
PD is gentler on the body, including the heart.
You can do PD without a care partner.
Training can take 5-6 weeks & is complete when patient is comfortable
If storage is an issue, supplies can be sent out to you in smaller shipments.
