  4. Record the timeline of when the child was last seen.
  5. Record the exact time you noticed the child was missing.
  6. Call 911 and contact the Leadership Team immediately
  7. Stay with the child while another staff member removes the group if needed.
  8. Inform the Leadership Team of the fire location.
  9. Do not move the participant; provide first aid and wait for support.
  10. Stay with your group while other staff assist in the search.
  11. After 30 minutes, parents/guardian s and Winnipeg Police will be contacted.
  12. Lead your group calmly to the nearest fire exit —never use the elevator.
  13. Ensure no one returns to the building for personal belongings.
  14. Retrieve the participant’s medication from the med bag or med box if relevant.
  15. Leadership will intervene and attempt to resolve the behavior through conversation.
  16. Listen for instructions from campus security or the fire department.
  17. Take attendance once your group reaches the muster point
  18. Check Grouplist to see if the child was signed out for early pickup.
  19. Offer the child space to cool down before continuing the conversation.
  20. Maintain group order and keep chatter to a minimum once outside.
  21. Use calm, neutral language to de-escalate the situation.
  22. Contact the Leadership Team with the child’s name, description, and last known location.
  23. Report the behavior, location, and child’s age to the Leadership Team.
  24. After the all-clear is given, calmly return to your program location and re-establish group routine.
