  7. Contact the Leadership Team with the child’s name, description, and last known location.
  8. Stay with your group while other staff assist in the search.
  9. Immediately check your phone for a mass text alert from the Leadership Team
  10. Take attendance once your group reaches the muster point
  11. Ensure no one returns to the building for personal belongings.
  12. Lead your group calmly to the nearest fire exit —never use the elevator.
  13. Respond to the mass text with your room number and building name (e.g., “Education 290 secure”).
  14. Check Grouplist to see if the child was signed out for early pickup
  15. Stay with the child while another staff member removes the group if needed.
  16. Ensure the shelter space is away from windows and doors
  17. Avoid using lights, music, or any noises that draw attention
  18. After the all-clear is given, calmly return to your program location and re-establish group routine.
  19. Do not re-enter the building until the all-clear is given by emergency personnel.
  20. Use calm, neutral language to de-escalate the situation.
  21. Leadership will intervene and attempt to resolve the behavior through conversation.
  22. Do not move the participant; provide first aid and wait for support.
