Gather supplies prior to starting test

Results 4.0 or greater should have stat protime and INR via venipuncture

applying the blood.
Never store the meter in damp or humid conditions (greater than
85% humidity).
Never add more blood after the test has begun
Never perform a test with a drop of blood from a previous fingerstick.
Make sure fingertip is thoroughly dry prior to lancing
Update care plan with new orders
Ensure there is a visit on the schedule for when the next INR due
