This bingo card has a free space and 24 words: “a product of society-wide inequalities”, EMSPAA sends an email about their commitment to diversity while denying diversity committee, “SAT scores are the only objective way to compare applicants”, claims we can’t be racist because it’s not “intentional”, survey sent out, no action taken from results, says “thank you for your advocacy” while denying what you’re advocating for, claims the program is already diverse because there are Asian students, “ongoing discussions”, “a time to listen”, uses bureaucratic roadblocks that could come up as an excuse to do zero equity work whatsoever, “in this unique time” as if racism hasn’t existed for the last 20 years, accepts smallest possible change so they can say they’re doing “anti-racist work” while denying every other demand, suggests a very labor intensive project they have absolutely no intention of contributing to, reframes work unrelated to equity as equity work, asks you to send research, doesn’t read it, claims Covid is preventing equity work, “bandwidth”, “always open to your suggestions”, suggests you’re doing equity work incorrectly as someone who started thinking about it 10 minutes ago, spends more time naming equity committee than doing equity work, “intellectual diversity”, demands data, makes you pay for it, then gets angry at you for publicizing it, uses existence of equity committee that they don’t listen to as evidence of their commitment to equity and staff sets up 30 minute equity meeting, goes on 27 minute unrelated rant.
