The NP were the largest tribe in the region and were vital to the success of the confederacy., Leschi-Nisqually leader who led Native fighters in the battles in Western Washington. Despite being found innocent of murder, Governor Stevens had Leschi hanged in 1856., Chief Moses-Mid Columbia Native leader who attempted to steer a path of peace for his people-Moses Lake is named for him., Peopeomoxmox-Walla Walla leader who worked for peace with the whites-murdered in 1855 by troops while being held as a captive., Sacajewea-Shoshone woman who traveled with Lewis and Clark from Fort Mandan to the Pacific Coast and back.
