This bingo card has a free space and 24 words: short warm-up that doesn't need instruction, students repeat what teacher said or completes familiar phrase, make steps memorable (mnemonic), use specific, odd increments: be specific about time, call on students without raising hands, assume the best: build trust with your students, fast-paced vocal review to build engagement, back-pocket questions: aligned to objectives, clean start: make beginning of activity "pop", ask students to read aloud frequently, but manage the process, keep it predictable: they will prepare to be asked questions, previews the day's lesson, or review, break down complex tasks into steps for mastery, respect students' time by spending it productively, show the clock: make it visible to students, clean finish: end on cue establishes transitions, keep identity of next reader unpredictabale, ask your students to answer questions in unison, live in the now: avoid harping on what can't be fixed, it's a game with a clear beginning and end, should take between 3-5 minutes and involve a written product, oral cloze: leave a word out when reading & students fill in, allow plausible anonymity: correct students w/o using names and unbundle: break up larger questions into smaller ones.
